Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we warmly invite you to participate in the International Symposium on Coordination Chemistry and Molecular Materials, hosted by the Université Bordeaux 1, France, on December 1-2, 2011, at the ICMCB (Pessac) and on the Talence Campus. This International Symposium is organized at the occasion of the presentation by Yves Chauvin to Didier Astruc of a copy of the New Journal of Chemistry issue in his honour. This issue that is appearing in October 2011 has gathered 60 articles, from 80 laboratories, dedicated to Didier Astruc.

A stellar assembly of former Didier’s group members and friends from around the world have kindly accepted to come and give a lecture, in celebration of the outstanding significance of his ongoing contributions to chemistry.

The symposium is also opened to students through “Grand-Public” lectures by Henri Kagan on the arrival of optical activity on Earth and Jean-Pierre Sauvage on Catenanes and Molecular Machines, and a “Grand-Public” discussion with Yves Chauvin (2005 Nobel Laureate) and the participation of the students.

The programme will consist of Lectures and Oral Communications covering a very broad range of scientific domains such as catalysis (including nanoparticles, dendrimers, inorganic and organometallic compounds), molecular materials with unusual physical properties (including spin-cross-over systems, dendrimers and polymers), and bioinorganic chemistry.

We look forward to personally welcoming you at this friendly scientific meeting this December.

Cordially yours,

Jean-René Hamon, Jean-Yves Saillard and Jaime Ruiz Aranzaes .
